The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) offers students a variety of free learning support and academic enrichment opportunities, including tutoring in all academic disciplines. These services include on-campus and online tutoring, facilitated study groups, drop-in Math and Writing Centers, and a comprehensive collection of supplemental academic materials.

The purpose of this club is to provide basic training, and self-defense techniques using scientific street fighting also known as Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Sharpening one's awareness for situations such as surprise attacks, being grabbed, and from unarmed/armed assailants.

This club will assist students to gain and maintain exercise. Gain security, confidence, self-knowledge and self-development, which leads to self-actualization. In all, gain the self-help that they may protect themselves.

Black Student Alliance is a club for all students to engage in the appreciation of black culture, history, and the overall black experience. This club was created to give black students a space to share and educate others of issues that affect the black community, as well as showcase our beauty and talents in many ways. Being a parent and student simultaneously has its own significant challenges that can make it difficult to stay on track and be successful. At Germanna, we are here to help. Through local and federally funded programs we proudly offer access to child care services for eligible student parents, helping you to attend college and reach your academic and career goals.

Selected eligible students may be awarded one or both grants:

1. Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS)
- Monthly Child Care Subsidy
- Loaner Laptop
- College Advising and Resources
- Work-Based Learning Opportunities
- Student Success Workshops
- Student-Parent Support Network

2. College Attainment for Parent Students (CAPS)
- $2,000 Stipend Per Term for Child Care or Parenting Expenses

The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE) has partnered with HCM Strategists, with guidance and counsel provided by Generation Hope, to launch a new initiative, College Attainment for Parent Students (CAPS).

Membership Benefits
Twenty (20) students from Germanna Community College are selected each semester (fall, spring, and summer) to join the CAPS Cohort.

As a CAPS cohort member, each student parent will receive a $2,000 stipend per term to use towards child care and/or parenting expenses. Additionally, cohort members have access to CAPS emergency funding, receive one-on-one coaching from the CAPS Coach, Dr. Hope Murphy, and are invited to workshops, activities, and events designed for student parents.
